Happy 4th of July!
I spent a great weekend in the sun and in the water with my neighbor Rosie. Right now, I'm recovering and thought I'd share what has been going on.
On Saturday, we had friends over to the house to kick off the weekend and enjoy the weather. The sun was blazing hot, and the grill and and the music made it hotter! It was great to hang out, grill burgers, eat great food and drink too much beer. As the sun set, we even got to see some early fireworks; we aren;t sure where they came from, but it was a great cap to a fun night.
Sunday, after Rosie and I both cleaned up a bit, we went down the block to the Webber Park Pool in North Minneapolis. I was surprised that it was only $2.50 to swim, and the pool is actually well maintained. Of course, being a holiday weekend, the park was jammed and we listened to firecrackers, music and the sounds of the neighborhood. Even though it was overcast, I got some sun and Rosie and I splashed the afternoon away. I even tried the 3m board, and realized how short 3m is from the water. By the time I remembered to put my hands in front and turn my body it was too late. SMACK! The burning sensation spread across my face and I remembered that I had never been a diver. My dad, who WAS a diver for years, would have been ashamed. Of course, it was also a good laugh.
Annika the husky seemed to enjoy all the attention this weekend, and has spent the better part of the day sleeping in front of the AC and sneaking bits of watermelon. I hope she enjoys it, because watermelon and Annika do not agree with each other. Still, it has been a wonderful way to spend the 4th of July with great friends and fun in the sun!
