Discovering that the iPad cannot do everything is not a shocking surprise. It is, however, frustrating at times. I know there is no ability to print, but then again, there is also no Word app ( something to think about, Apple!). Today, I discovered that iPad Safari does not operate with the same functions as my macbook. My intent was to be able to update my blog from anywhere. Snap a pic and send it to my iPad, then post it. Ta-dah!
Un-uh.
First, I don't even think I can send a pic through bluetooth. This may necessitate the need for a better smartphone and more twitter pics. Second, there is no option for inserting a picture on the blog post page. Ugh!
My Mac keyboard is messed up, but I have avoided fixing it in large part because of the iPad. Now I guess I will have to drop that money.
This is not to say that I am unhappy with this Apple wonder. On the contrary, I love my iPad immensely. In fact, I have only used my iPod touch once in the last month. Yes, I said iPod TOUCH. I dislike AT&T almost as much as I dislike Rush Limbaugh. Perhaps when the exclusivity runs its course I will think about it. In the meantime, I will have to learn how to use all the different tools at my disposal in a more efficient way.
But I think I will start looking at new phones in any case. Specifically the HTC EVO. The Android OS seems to be gaining momentum, and the communication possibilities seem just as great as with the iPhone, damn antenna notwithstanding. I'm going to do some research, if anyone has ideas, please drop me a line or comment.
There is a camera connector for the iPad that works really well, it's about $30. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC531?mco=MTc0MjU1ODU
