On August 5, I had my tonsils taken out. Beyond the fact that an adult tonsillectomy is actually somewhat serious, I have never had surgery before. So now I am home, trying to do just what the doctor has told me to do.
I am home from work for 2 weeks, the first seven days of which I am not supposed to be active at all. Nothing that can raise my pulse or blood pressure. I am also not able to eat. Oh, I can get down a Popsicle and some pudding. In a few days I may be on to mashed potatoes or pasta. But of course, the first thing I asked for when I came out of anesthetic sleep was a bacon cheeseburger. Ugh! I am gonna pig out as soon as I heal.
The most frustrating thing is not being able to work or be active. There is nothing to occupy my mind right now, which leaves me to thoughts about my personal life, etc. And how long can you really think about that before you need a stiff drink?
In other news, my loan money for school is coming through, so that will help balance out the fact that I am not making money right now. Classes start on the 21st and I am back to work the 19th; not a lot of time to get ready, but hopefully I can get my books sent to me. That's right, no driving on my medication!
Also, in September, I will be moving into the studio apartment in back. It is definitely a downgrade, and I will greatly miss all the space, the dining room, the den.... But saving money is the best decision I can make right now. Besides, it will be fun to stock the studio with floor to ceiling books, and eat chinese take out on the bed!
So that should get you caught up on me.
Next week, there will be more music and library links, and hopefully I will learn how to encode the site for a new banner.
J-Pain out.
Did you apply for short term disability from work? Any time you miss more than three days for a medical reason, you can apply. They pay 2/3 of your normal pay. It was a lifesaver for me!
ReplyDeleteThey need my paperwork by the 10th and my doctor hasn't filled out his portion yet.
